Dr. Martica “Tica” Hall

ABMR Tica Hall Mentorship Award

This award was established in 2021 to honor the example led by past president, Dr. Martica Hall. The awardee will embody the values that Dr. Hall upholds as an exemplary and dedicated mentor. Over her long and illustrious career, she has and continues to mentor many who are now active members of our academy. She blends inspiration with practicality and emboldens her trainees to strive for growth and independence. She is a champion of diversity and inclusion and demonstrates that diverse perspectives create better research teams and discoveries.

This award will be given to the ABMR member who upholds the academy’s values with respect to excellence in mentoring the next generation of behavioral medicine researchers.

The award will come with an honorarium and a plaque. Awardees will also be given the opportunity to invite a mentee to attend the annual meeting as a guest.

ABMR members are encouraged to nominate a member who is deserving of this award.

This award is made possible thanks to donations to the Martica Hall Mentorship fund.

Nominations will re-open in fall 2024.

Nomination packages should include:

1) A letter of support from at least one ABMR member. List of current ABMR Members. The letter should highlight how the candidate upholds the values embodied by Dr. Martica Hall with respect to excellence in mentorship. The letter should also describe how the nominee fosters diversity and inclusion in our field, by advising mentees of diverse backgrounds and/or fields of science, or through other efforts.

2) Candidate’s updated CV, inclusive of a section showing the candidate’s track record of mentorship.

Selection Process:

A committee chaired by the ABMR immediate Past President will select the awardee.
